Sarah
Sarah was born and raised in Suffern, New York. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in English at Smith College in 1995. She then graduated from Harvard Divinity School in 1998, and was ordained by the General Convention of the Swedenborgian Church in June 2001.
Although she is a Swedenborgian minister, Sarah has been granted dual standing by the Hampshire Association of the United Church of Christ, and has been authorized and installed as the pastor and teacher of The First Congregational Church of Hadley since January of 2006.
Rev. Sarah describes her calling thus: “To go forth and minister to the people who, for whatever reason, feel alienated from God. I believe God’s love extends to all people for all time, with no exceptions, and I want people to feel the fullness of that love and know that they have a place in the church if they desire to be part of a larger spiritual community. I feel that I can do this within the United Church of Christ just as I did within the Swedenborgian church, and I am deeply grateful to the Hampshire Association and this congregation for the opportunity to minister to the people of Hadley.”
Sarah’s husband Andrew Dole teaches in the Religion Department at Amherst College. They live together in Amherst with their two children, George and Genevieve. She enjoys reading, movies, cooking, vacationing in Maine, and singing, especially with her friends from “Missing Rachel.”
